Albums Listened To May (69)

Well this month was musically interesting. It stared with high hopes - finishing the Elton John kick I was previously on - but ended kind of lacklusterly. This was another month of not too much new music listened to, instead opting for classics or just an album I haven't heard from in a while. More nostalgia then exploratory I guess...
And for some reason, at around week 2, I got really fed up with listening to an artist for a full album - both for new music and for albums I know and love. I don't know why, but the thought of listening to a full 10 tracks (or whatever) of the same music was beyond my reach. So it's been mostly random playlists of the best of the best, instead of the normal collection of albums. This trend has continued into week 1 of June, I wonder how long it will keep up.



Score
King Girant was an interesting new band/album (one of only a few). While it was another album with a lot of throwaway songs, the ones that perked my interest stood out. I really liked the cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Needle And The Spoon," one of my favorites.
Both the bands Planet of Zeus and Elvis Deluxe show promise. While nether left such an impression that I can adequately go into right now (not being home by my computer), I would like to hear more from each.

Weak
Smoke was full of it (smoke that is). Several songs seemed to be building up to something, only to drift off into atmospheric nothingness.

C+
Earthlings? was really eclectic in their musical styles. Another band where I liked their EP more then their full-lengths. Each release had two or three decent songs, and a lot of avant-garde experimental stuff. Interesting to say the least.

I expected much more from Fatso Jetson, for some reason seeing them as a spiritual brother to Clutch. Instead the albums I heard were boring and very straight-forward. While not bad, it was not overly catchy or re-playable.
