Anyway onto the music.
Started the month with a lot of older music re-listened. Moving towards classic rock/NWOBHM by the end. A nice variety throughout. But with that heavy influence of music I've already heard, this comparison of the good, bad and the dull will be pretty short. I'm sure there are some people who view that very positively, and for all those people... eat me.
Great
Although not as superb as their other releases, Pink Floyd's albums, The Final Cut and Obscured By Clouds both show that this band was immensely talented before making it mega-huge. I keep meaning to listen to their other early stuff, but you have to be in a certain mood for out there psychedelia.
I've already went into the skills of Droids Attack (which would fall on all three categories here), so no need to reiterate.
As I write this I am listening to the new Mael Mordha album, Manannan, and although I am only half done, so far it's pretty good. They are another band that is remarked as folk-doom (see The Flight Of Sleipnir below) but never actually get into the folk - at least to my ears. With or without, Manannan is still worth a listen.
Crap
After hearing them toted as folk-doom, The Flight Of Sleipnir sounded like a good listen. Instead of anything folk, it was a funeral death/doom album. I have an earlier release to listen too, but after listening to Lore, I am in no rush.
Eh...
I was expecting more from Evacuate Chicago, the serious interpretation by the guys behind Psychostick. I love Psychostick, but their new take on music was kinda dull.
