Albums Listened To In November

Damn November was a good month! My birthday, three months at the new job, a few lady-friends, a new writer for The Guide, some good shit.
Another month of near-record numbers - 94 albums total, 35 new! I spent alot of time re-listening to good bands, albums and complete genres. You'll notice a heavy stoner resurgence, as I decided to listen to every stoner album that I have listened to in the recent months (that I liked anyway). Bands like sHEAVY, The Atomic Bitchwax, Fireball Ministry, Five Horse Johnson, and Hermano, Monster Magnet, all had their entire discographies listened through again - all stoner.

Some new bands full discography's include Beaver (crap), Bigelf (awesome), Hummingbird, and Witchfinder General (meh). Other discographies, of bands I've known for a while now are Firebird, Rebellion (both with brand new albums), Weezer, and Avantasia, all great bands.
Not alot to say for the best and worst of the month, as most of it was older music. The new Rebellion was alright, not the same angst as the recordings before it, but definitely in the same vein. The self-titled release by The Company band was pretty damn good, totally worth a listen. Bigelf is a rocking band (see the link above for more), as is the project band, The Good, The Bad And The Queen, an interesting release to be sure.
As stated above (and previously), Beaver is a crap band, reminiscent of early Alabama Thunderpussy (remember the only album of theirs I really enjoyed was Open Fire), as was The Queens of The Stone Age's self-titled, they are everything wrong with stoner in the mainstream.
Other then those few, it was a pretty solid month, some boring efforts but for the most part decent stuff.

I want more new music for next month, I'm going to work hard in taking a dent out of the 'New for 2009' play list album I have, 36 albums to listen to before the end of the year. But I am also re-listening to the Manowar and Queen discographies (both amazing bands), with the hope to do a couple of 'Retrospectives' about them.

More metal, more rock, more time.
